Canadian Pride Rage =D
Sun Jul 10, 2011 1:29 am
In response to Rambo's comment of Canadians performing lower generally due to their education, when compared to the US, I would like to point out the following source:
http://www.oecd.org/document/0,3746,en_2649_201185_46462759_1_1_1_1,00.html
Note that the OECD has a committee of multiple countries so issues of bias shouldn't be applicable here.
Anyway, the main fact is:
Mathematics Performance Rank Worldwide:
Canada - UPPER RANK: 4, LOWER RANK: 9
United States - UPPER RANK: 21, LOWER RANK: 29
Science Performance Rank Worldwide:
Canada - UPPER RANK: 4, LOWER RANK: 7
United States - UPPER RANK: 13, LOWER RANK: 22
So thar. >_>
P.S.
Gross Domestic Products (2011):
GDP of Canada: 1,331.3 billion
GDP of US: 14,582.4 billion
Deficit as a percent of the nominal GDP per annum (2011):
Canada: -4.850856879861% = 64 million per annum
US: -10.0975209248406% = 1.4 trillion per annum
So... no, we don't have trillion dollar deficits >_>
Did I mention we had a 1.5% surplus in 2007, whereas the last time the US had a surplus was 2000 (Also 1.5%)? =D
Again, the source is http://www.oecd.org/document/0,3746,en_2649_201185_46462759_1_1_1_1,00.html

Only 3 words make up this. LoL
First off, i would like to point out i said nothing about Canadians performing lower due to lack of education. I said their economy was worse than the US's primarily due to Socialism and government ran programs (IE : Government health care) now I would like to prove this fact.
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2004rank.html?countryName=Canada&countryCode=ca®ionCode=noa&rank=22#ca
Here states the GDP per capita, which the US is number 11, Canada, 22. This is significant because US has a larger population than Canada, and still is higher on the chart.
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2001rank.html?countryName=Canada&countryCode=ca®ionCode=noa&rank=15#ca
This shows the purchasing power for both countries. Again US number 2, Canada 15.
And Commander, your source doesn't show anything except a list of charts which have no comparison data.
GG.

Sorry, I was supposed to point your attention to the education section, specifically this spreadsheet:
http://dx.doi.org/10.1787/888932343152
Go check out figures I.3.11 and I.3.22.
You may also check out the sections on deficits and GDP as well. Ctrl + F, because I'm too lazy to search for them.
On the topic of GDP per capita, yes it is true that the US has overall higher GDP than Canada, but there are other factors to consider when talking about the stability of the economy.
For example, the Gini coefficient - based on the Lorenz curve - (of income distribution) in the US is around 45 whereas in Canada, the coefficient is 32. This indicates that the spread of low income, mid income, and high income jobs is far more even in Canada than in the US.
In fact, around 40-60% of americans are making less than $50,000 a year.
It should also be noted that the Forbes 400 are also generating a large portion of that GDP (around 109 billion).
(Source: http://www.newthinktank.com/2011/06/income-distribution-united-states/ )
P.S. I would also like to point your attention to the following sources:
http://www.statcan.gc.ca/daily-quotidien/100617/dq100617c-eng.htm (Canadian Average AFTER-TAX Income: 63,900 CDN)
http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/income/data/historical/household/H08_2009.xls (US Average Income: 43,777 USD)
Now, today's exchange quote (http://www.canadianforex.ca/cgi-bin/currency-converter.asp) says:
1 CAD = 1.0401 USD
So at the moment, $1 CDN > $1 USD
http://dx.doi.org/10.1787/888932343152
Go check out figures I.3.11 and I.3.22.

Indeed. But like I said before, here in Canada we advocate peacekeeping and not policing.

It should be noted that said "penis" has made the US generally hated in Europe and countries off to the east, whereas when most countries look at Canada, they don't look at its "penis" but more at its entirety (i.e. contributions made towards improving the world in general).
I found that this has made Canadians more well-liked pretty much anywhere, since who in their right mind would want to invade Canada anyways? (Besides the US... since it already happened in 1812 xD)

HAHA NO IT WASN'TCommander C. wrote:Historically, it was a draw.
And on topic, I would like to point out that Candians make 50 grand year is because your Socialists. Which is why you have so little doctors. The many here that make minimum wage is because of the lack of jobs. And ii loled at your bad comparison to the USD since it is clearly higher. And to rap this up Canada doesn't peace keep, lol, they played rolls in many wars. Many...

... If by smarter ideas, you mean increase class divide to 40%, increase consumer health care expenditure by 83% and increase unemployment by 10% when compared to Canada, then yes. Smart ideas indeed.

Currently, Canada is in a better state then we are, in terms of logistics. However, don't forget, the United States has a lot more people, and a higher GDP. I'm not going to lie though, we don't have a very good leader at the moment.
