The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford

I like the movie because it show's Jesse's longing to die throughout the entire movie and Robert's growing admiration then fallout with Jesse that ends with him shooting the former in his house while he's fixing a crooked painting. After a small gain of fame in a humiliating fashion, with them reenacting the act with Robert playing himself and Charlie playing Jesse. Charlie was grief stricken and wrote letters to Jesse's wife Zee asking for forgiveness, but never sent them. He later committed suicide. Robert didn't have much luck either, because he was soon hated and shunned by the public, for killing Jesse James. He was murdered by Edward O'Kelliey 10 years after the death of Jesse. Jesse got what he wanted, fame through his death while the person who killed him, got nothing. It may not have been Jesse's intent to make his friend a hated individual, but that's what happened in the end. Personally, I think Jesse accepted his own death long ago, because he didn't try to stop Robert from killing him, which he surely could have. Yes, he knew....
Also, when Robert answers "I swear to God I didn't." on killing Jesse James, in retrospect he did not kill him, because Jesse wanted to die in the end anyway, therefore it could be more considered an assisted suicide than a murder...
The whole movie was an epic tragedy. Robert wasn't a coward and Jesse wasn't a hero.
